Welcome to Wild Voices Collective. In this second gathering, our contributors explore the themes of edges and borderlessness. We invite you to reflect on the blurry borders between earth and sky, ocean and sand, and between yourself and a beloved.
You’ll learn about electric fences in the form of power lines devastating wildlife in Costa Rica, and spend time with a willow tree rooted beneath the Arizona–Mexico border, offering indiscriminate medicine to all. And more.
This issue also immerses you in the work of our featured organization: the Jaguar Rescue Center (JRC) in Costa Rica. You’ll hear from wildlife biologist and JRC founder Encar Vila, writer wildlife rehabilitator and Laureli Cohen, and filmmaker Carlos Rivero who is documenting their incredible work. The JRC’s work embodies the themes of this issue: tending the edges, repairing what’s been severed, and listening for what is possible.
We hope you enjoy this collaboration. If you do, please share, subscribe and comment so our contributors know. And as you listen and read, we invite you to reflect upon the edges of your own inner and outer wilds.
With wild gratitude,
Vanessa Chakour
