WILD VOICES COLLECTIVE is a bridge where artists share their talents to amplify voices of the wild. Our summer issue features the work of Nina and Sonya Montengro of The Far Woods. 25% of proceeds from the following pieces support the vital work of Project Coyote.
FAMILY, a fine art giclee print by Nina Montenegro
A montage of pictographs make up this homage to the natural world. A human being is pictured alongside a snail, tree, bird, snake, mountain, ant, wolf, starfish, fungi and other wild relatives — no bigger, no more important — but as a family. We are all related and our destinies are intertwined. We belong together and to each other.

THE ARTISTS: We are sisters Sonya and Nina Montenegro, the designers and makers of The Far Woods. The things we make reflect our deepest desires about the world. We seek to contribute to a great Culture Shift in which there is a land ethic, reverence for nature, rejection of the dominant throw-away mentality, and direct connection to where our food and the things we use come from. Many of our artworks serve as educational tools and inspiration for deepening relationship to nature, food, and community. Our practice crosses disciplines to work toward an ecologically-viable and socially-just future.
We acknowledge and honor the Indigenous communities native to the regions in which we live and make our art. We recognize the land now known as Indiana and Kentucky as the unceded homeland of the Miami, Delaware, Potawatomi, Shawnee people, and the Eastern Band of the Cherokee, the Osage Nation, and the Shawnee, respectively.
