Welcome to Wild Voices Collective, the magazine. A gathering place to remember ourselves as one with the sun, the air, the trees, and all of our wild neighbors who share this earthly home. The art we share is centered in this remembering.
We call our Substack offering a magazine because we curate each piece before sending the newsletter as a audio and visual collection. Our hope is that this format invites you to engage not just with words but with imagery, sound, and storytelling in ways that evoke deeper experience while being kinder to your email inbox. As this experiment grows, we may expand into new forms, evolving organically to include interactive elements and other creative expressions that deepen connection between contributors and readers.
The inaugural issue of Wild Voices Collective celebrates the wild joy of summer. From a poem for fireflies and coyote advocacy to conversations with a Bobcat Mama and a meditation from the perspective of a turtle, this collection invites readers to revel in the beauty of the natural world and experience life through the eyes of our wild neighbors.
A heartfelt thank you to my brother Alex Chakour for stitching the recordings together into something truly special. I love hearing everyone read their own work. I’ve long craved a magazine I can listen to, spoken in the voices of the artists and writers themselves. This is an experiment, and I hope you enjoy it. If you do, please leave a comment for us and for each writer and artist to let them know.
With wild gratitude,
WVC founder,
Wild Voices Collective
Wild Voices Collective (WVC) is a creative force for the wild. By amplifying voices of nature, we empower artists through vibrant partnerships with wildlife organizations, residencies at nature sanctuaries, and workshops to strengthen and inspire craft. Together, we awaken our interdependence, celebrate wild beauty, and inspire critical action for wild kin.
